Kellas Midstream is an energy infrastructure company that owns, manages and operates a portfolio of large-scale critical energy infrastructure assets in the Central and Southern North Sea that transport and process around 40% UK gas production, including CATS (Central Area Transmission System) in Teesside.
As the energy industry continues its transition to net zero, Kellas is bringing its experience, expertise in natural gas infrastructure to clean energy initiatives, including low carbon hydrogen, that will significantly contribute to industry decarbonisation and domestic energy security, and support the UK’s net zero targets.
Kellas is developing both blue and green hydrogen production facilities on Teesside, an area committed to becoming one of the world’s first decarbonised industrial clusters through the production, consumption and export of low carbon hydrogen.
Kellas is building H2NorthEast, a low carbon, blue hydrogen production facility located next to the CATS terminal. Phase 1 of the project will deliver 355MW of low carbon hydrogen and further phases will see it providing up to 10% of the UK’s target 10GW hydrogen production capacity by 2030.
Kellas is also exploring opportunities for gigawatt-scale green hydrogen production on Teesside in partnership with RWE, leveraging each company’s leading positions in energy infrastructure and renewables.
