Decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling and demolition engineers.
The world of decommissioning can be highly complex and extremely hazardous. Having worked in this specialist discipline since 1992, RVA Group is an experienced and globally renowned management and engineering consultancy, providing total solutions for the safe, environmentally secure, and cost-effective delivery of complex projects.
Having successfully completed more than 850 assignments – and counting – our knowledge-based support has been relied upon by major global brands in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and power generation industries.
RVA does not offer a generic approach. Drawing upon decades of specialist engineering experience, sector knowledge and independent commercial awareness, we provide a wide range of decommissioning services. These include front-end engineering design, planning and provisioning, decommissioning, demolition, dismantling and remediation. We commonly act as Principal Designer for our clients (CDM regulations), but there’s no ‘one-size-fits-all’.
The goal is to support clients throughout the operational lifecycle of their assets, so that they can select, develop and implement project-specific strategies that deliver optimum safety, commercial, and environmental outcomes. This is the very market gap it sought to address when RVA was established, and it remains core to our reputation today – globally, not solely in the UK.
RVA’s story began when Richard Vann – an experienced demolition professional – sought to fill a void in the management of decommissioning works.
Construction schemes were typically underpinned by robust investment and executed by carefully assembled, multi-disciplined teams, projects undertaken throughout the stages of an asset’s lifecycle were usually viewed as unwelcome and nuisance events. Resources without the required training and skills – as well as dangerously restrictive timeframes and budgets – were therefore allocated to such decommissioning works, which continued to present avoidable risks. This was a challenge of vast proportions. However, bringing together a team of senior engineers – leaders in their respective disciplines – would prove to be the catalyst that started to change mindsets and completely reshape how complex projects were handled.
RVA Group has grown to become a globally renowned project management and engineering organisation, providing knowledge-based support that ensures the successful delivery of decommissioning, decontamination, dismantling and demolition.
By remaining completely independent from the contractor supply chain, the goal of every assignment – large or small – is to enable asset owners to make informed, best value decisions, irrespective of their operational challenges or site intricacies.
