Reporting to Occupational Health and Safety Manager
Based in: Wilton International, Teesside

Position Overview:
As a HSSE Advisor, you will work with the occupational health and safety manager in a proactive, effective and creative way. You will be expected to foster the development of a robust safety culture within your assigned business region and will be expected to build strong professional relationships with colleagues and contract partners, to ensure that HSSE objectives are met and processes are being implemented to the required standard.
You will also act / develop as a Subject Matter Focal Point for an area critical in HSSE service provision (e.g. Emergency response planning, Process safety, PUWER, LOLER etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
•
Motivating and encouraging team members, contractors, and employees to meet company objectives for continuous improvement.
•
Carrying out HSSE inspections / site audits and intervening where required to drive corrective action.
•
Leading incident and high learning potential event (HLPE) investigations and ensuring that actions are tracked.
•
Leading or assisting in carrying out internal audits of SEUK management system policies and procedures.
•
Assisting in the development of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Assessments, Manual Handling Assessments, DSE Assessments, Fire Risk Assessments, as required.
•
Tracking corrective / preventive actions (CAPAs) and intervening where required to ensure that actions are closed-out on time and to the required standard.
•
Liaising with enforcing authorities, organisations, and departments on HSSE related topics.
•
Producing management reports which utilise leading and lagging indicators to track safety performance against established targets.
•
Assisting in the maintenance and quality control of entries into HSE-related safety databases. Building and utilising a professional network to ensure that all aspects of HSE performance is maintained in-line with industry good practice.
•
Monitoring and report on proactive and reactive HSSE KPIs for assigned region(s)
•
Assisting in the maintenance and continual improvement of the SEUKs Management Systems’.
•
Emergency response planning and exercises management.
•
Support designated business area with HSSE requirements.
Requirements:
•
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an HSSE Adviser in a hazardous industry (O&G, Energy / Utilities, Port Sector, Construction Industry).
•
NEBOSH Diploma or OHS/HSE Degree Qualified
•
Technical or higher membership level of IOSH
•
Incident Investigation experience / qualification
•
Working knowledge of ISO45001:2018
•
Excellent IT Skills (extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•
Full driving license required, as prospective and operational sites are located throughout England and Wales – regular travel to sites will be required with the occasional overnight stay.
•
Skilled in oral and written communication and presentation skills. Capable of clearly stating and presenting facts in a way that facilitates comprehension and engagement.
•
Details orientated and capable of analysing processes to identify opportunities for performance enhancement.
•
Capable of effectively prioritising work and allocating and delegating tasks / responsibilities as required.
•
Capable of adapting language and content to suit situation and audience.
•
Capable of presenting information and advice in an impactful manner.
•
Effective at building relationships across all levels of the organisation to ensure that sustainable change initiatives are successfully implemented.
