Read more >Last month Sofia Offshore Wind Farm received a positive financial investment decision (FID) which means the 1.4GW project is now officially in its construction phase. Contracts have been signed with the project’s key Tier 1 suppliers giving the go ahead for their respective work packages.
Enabling works to prepare for the construction of the converter station in Teesside are set to start in the coming weeks, with offshore construction due to get underway in 2023. This circa £3 billion project is now full steam ahead!
Throughout this year Sofia and its Tier 1 suppliers, with the support of NOF / Energi Coast as supply chain partners, will initiate a range of events and activities to keep suppliers up-to-date with the project and to highlight opportunities, particularly in the North East.
Earlier this year we sent a survey to find out how developers can better engage with the supply chain, and received 120 valuable responses. At the first dedicated Sofia event this month, the results of that survey will be presented along with how the feedback will be incorporated into the project’s supply chain activity.
This webinar event will also provide a high level introduction to the project. Attendees will find out about Sofia’s construction programme, learn about the project’s key component contractors and hear from new Project Director, Matthew Swanwick.
Finally there will be a Q&A session for those keen to ask specific questions of the Sofia team plus initial details about the project’s planned meet-the-buyer events featuring Tier 1 & 2 suppliers in May/June.
