When it comes to designing the laboratory of the future, or even of the present, it is all about the A’s. No, not the marks you score in exams, but the six tenets of design and engineering.

PM Group call these, the “Six A’s” – Adaptability, Assembly, Adjacencies, Automation, Aesthetics and Accountability. Take each of these areas into account, and you will design an excellent lab. How do you prioritise? That comes down to the specific functional requirements and budget, but from a design perspective, there is one standout — adaptability.
