The East Coast Cluster is a Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) project which brings together Net Zero Teesside and Zero Carbon Humber and stands ready to remove up to 50% of the total UK industrial cluster emissions.

The Northern Endurance Partnership will enable the East Coast Cluster by providing the common infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from carbon emitters on Teesside and the Humber to safe, secure offshore storage in the Endurance carbon store in the southern North Sea.

In October, we are consulting on our proposals for the offshore CO2 transportation and storage infrastructure and we welcome your support in raising awareness of the Scoping Report – which is available to view on the East Coast Cluster website.

 About the consultation

Under the Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration, Production, Unloading and Storage (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2020 an offshore Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is being conducted in support of NEP’s development of offshore CO2 transport and storage infrastructure.

In advance of the preparation of the EIA a Scoping Report has been prepared and which can be accessed via the link here.

This report informs the public scoping exercise which gathers the views of stakeholders and the public and is an essential part of the EIA process.

The comments raised from this scoping exercise will inform the EIA process, to be summarised in an Environmental Statement (ES) report for submission to the regulator (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment & Decommissioning, BEIS OPRED) in Q1/Q2 2022 and which will be subjected to public consultation.
