The University has an established reputation for working with businesses to develop apprentices and design qualifications which meets the needs of industry and is encouraging employers to take advantage of the benefits growing of the skills of their workforce through apprenticeships.
Teesside University is running a series of short, online sessions to provide information about a variety of apprenticeship programmes between 7-13 February to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.
National Apprenticeship Week 2022 is the 15th annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make.
At the webinars, employers will have the opportunity to meet some of the academics leading on the programmes, and to hear more about enrolment, accessing their levy account and everything else they need to know as an employer of an apprentice.
Higher and Degree Apprenticeships (HDAs) combine vocational work-based learning with study for a university qualification.
Teesside University has an outstanding Ofsted rating for its Higher Apprenticeships and offers 30 different HDAs with around 1500 students on these courses.
Apprenticeships are cost-free to learners with tuition fees paid by the employer and the government, enabling students to fast track to a great career with increased earning potential alongside a recognised qualification within their chosen sector.
At the same time, employers are able to invest in skilling their workforce through the government levy.
Apprenticeships can take between two and five years to complete, depending on the subject, and apprentices spend a proportion (minimum 20%) of their working time studying, and developing skills and behaviours at the University’s and within their workplace.
‘Teesside University’s ever-growing apprenticeship offer is extremely popular and attractive to employers and their workforce by allowing them to earn while they learn and at the same time their employers gain a better skilled workforce who bring real advantages and improvements to their businesses.
‘We’re hoping that throughout National Apprenticeship Week people will take part in our workshops to learn more about the different apprenticeships we provide.’
