The Tees Valley is the centre for a major push to deliver a high growth, high wage economy built around sustainable manufacturing and energy production. The recent success of the Tees Valley in being selected (in collaboration with the Humber) as one of the UK’s pathfinder clusters for industrial decarbonisation is a great boost for our ambitions to develop a new industrial future for the region.
 

But what does this mean for the Tees Valley? What are the developments proposed and when could they happen? Most importantly, how can local supply chain companies learn about these opportunities and what does it mean for the community? 
 

Tees Valley Combined Authority’s Net Zero Showcase will explain what is happening in the Tees Valley to decarbonize many of the major manufacturing activities and the progress made in developing a roadmap toward effectively eliminating these emissions by 2040.

EVENT AGENDA

The morning will introduce the work already in progress, with explanations of what is happening from:

• The Tees Valley Combined Authority & NEPIC cluster roadmap project  
• The East Coast Cluster project and the Northern Endurance Partnership – intending to capture the emissions from both the Tees Valley and the Humber clusters 
• The Carbon Capture and Storage Association  
• The North Sea Transition Authority 
• Net Zero Teesside, led by Bp 
• UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
• The department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)
• Tees Valley companies involved in developing projects as part of UK’s cluster sequencing programme 
• The Tees Valley Hydrogen Vision, the Redcar Hydrogen Village project and the East Coast Hydrogen development  

As well as a perspective on national research activity from Durham University.
 

In the afternoon, a supply chain showcase will give attendees the opportunity to talk to the individual companies developing projects. There will also be two focused activities to choose from:

• A roundtable discussion led by TVCA’s skills team on the workforce development and training requirements for companies seeking to maximise on these opportunities.
• A “teach in” for public sector personnel and leaders on the background to the various technologies involved, the community opportunity and routes to engagement.
