Sirius announces Mineral Transport System fit out agreement completes project procurement
Sirius Minerals has announced that procurement is now complete for the major construction packages relating to stage 2 financing, having signed an agreement with STRABAG for the fit out of the Mineral Transport System (MTS).
The contract involves construction of the 23 mile underground conveyor system from Woodsmith Mine, near Whitby, to Teesside, designed to handle 20 million tonnes per annum of polyhalite ore. The tunnel will also contain maintenance rail and services, including a 66kV power feeder from Wilton International industrial complex.
The news released today is significant as it represents the last piece of construction procurement required for stage 2 financing. The Company is working towards financial close of stage 2 financing in Q1 2019.
