Our facility in Brighouse, England, has been granted Fit for Hydrogen (F4H2) & Carbon Capture Usage & Storage (CCUS) status by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. Score was part of the first cohort and is the only independent specialist valve service and supply company to gain the accreditation. Score is also one of only 19 engineering, operations, and maintenance, and energy technology businesses in the north-east of Scotland to have been accepted into the latest Fit for Offshore Renewables (F40R) supply chain support programme.

The F4H2 and F4CCUS project is part of the Zero Carbon Humber partnership, a major collaboration to clean up the UK’s most carbon-intensive industrial cluster, with support from the UK government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.

The programme enables UK manufacturers and suppliers to benchmark their operations against the standards necessary for supplying the hydrogen production and carbon capture usage, and storage (CCUS) sectors, and develop their capabilities for new opportunities within them. The scheme grants companies access to sector-specific training as well as access to industry advisors’ support.

Considering the global drive to reduce CO2 emissions and increase use of renewable energy sources, the accreditation marks an important step forward for Score as we develop our service offering within the Hydrogen and CCUS markets.

F40R North East is delivered by the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, in partnership with the Energy Transition Zone (ETZ Ltd). The 12–18-month programme is designed alongside industry experts and builds on the strong heritage of offshore operations in the north-east of Scotland to equip businesses with the skills and expertise that are essential for success in the offshore renewables sector. In doing so, it aims to create a world class energy supply chain as part of the clean energy transition.

The UK is expected to generate over 50GW of offshore wind power by 2030, with much of that power being generated off the north-east coast of Scotland. Score has been at the forefront of the region’s offshore service industry for over 40 years and the F4OR initiative will assist us in developing our service offering as the market evolves throughout the energy transition.
