Thorne & Derrick International, The Leaders in ATEX Innovation, have recently supplied ATEX certified magnetic locks (Maglocks) to a global leading chemical manufacturing company in the North East of England.

The client is building a new laboratory and R&D facility which will contain and store explosive gas mixtures.

As part of the security and access control system, the client wanted the ability to restrict access to the area electronically.

This prevents unauthorised personnel from entering the restricted area and also communicates to site DCS so that the client has instant visibility on who is in the explosive atmosphere area in the event of an emergency.

As part of the access control solution located in the hazardous area, Thorne & Derrick also provided ATEX certified Exit pushbuttons and breakglass in case of emergency.

Secure

The Maglocks manufactured by SecurEx was specified and preferred as it provided the client with an access control solution and security solution in one combined unit.

Unlike ATEX door contacts, the Maglock has a far superior holding force of 500KgN and can therefore be used as a security solution. The lock is also available with Grade 3 TEOL contacts which adds anti-tamper function if required.

Thorne & Derrick International, based in the UK, recently signed a Sole UK Distributor Agreement with regional exclusivity to the North East of England for the SecurEx range of ATEX & IECEx Certified access control and security products.
