NAW2021: Apprenticeship Employers

Here at NEPIC, not only do we celebrate the regions best & brightest Apprentices, but Apprentice Employers too.

Our Apprentice Employer of the Year category at our Annual Industry Awards, celebrates employers who can showcase a strong commitment to employing, nurturing and supporting apprentices.

Along with championing the contribution and success that apprenticeships have brought to businesses.

Our 2020 award winner was CPI.

Read on to find out why they were crowed winners of the 2020 Apprenticeship Empolyer of the Year at the NEPIC Annual Industry Awards:

CPI offers a variety of opportunities in both technical and service teams that can appeal to people from all backgrounds.

They have a track record of supporting apprentices over the age of 25, making it more accessible to people looking for a career change or the opportunity to retrain.

Their collaborative relationships with training providers, colleges and universities across the region offers access to a very diverse applicant pool. They also support countless external events and STEM activities to promote not only the work and opportunities within CPI but the wider industry too

CPI are quite simply supporting apprenticeships beyond baseline requirements. Of those apprentices who have completed their apprenticeship with CPI:

94.4% have gone on to be offered further employment with CPI
82.3% are still with the business today.
36.8% of permanent staff that are studying an apprenticeship are those that have progressed from starting as an apprentice with CPI and are continuing their professional development.

In 2018, CPI became an active member of the 5% Club – a dynamic movement of employer-members working to create a shared prosperity across the UK by driving ‘earn and learn’ skills training opportunities.

This is a commitment made by CPI to have a minimum of 5% of the workforce in apprenticeships, graduate training programmes or funded further educational courses.

CPI employ over 450 scientists, engineers and business specialist and, by the end of 2019, 11% of workforce were involved in developmental initiatives.

CPI’s commitment to fostering a culture of learning and ‘growing their own’ not only offers their clients and stakeholders access to the very best people, it makes it a great place to grow and develop.
