Read more >It was a great morning as we gathered over 75 industry professionals from across the region for our May Cluster Connect.
Hosted by Redcar College, part of the ETC Group alongside Stockton Riverside College, we were joined by speakers Jason Faulkner, principal at Redcar College, James Grant, senior marketing and communications manager at K2 Construction Management, Stuart Metcalfe, business development manager at px Energy Solutions and Bill Scott OBE, group director at Universal Coatings and Services and Wilton Engineering.
Members received a warm welcome from our operations director Joanne Fryett who then passed over to principal, Jason Faulkner. Jason spoke of the college’s journey over the years and how it’s continuously developing its portfolio for T-Levels. Jason said:
“We’re flying in terms of development and engaging with local industry. We’re committed to working alongside local industry to shape the future generation so we can ensure they gain the skills needed by businesses throughout the region.”
We then heard from James Grant who discussed the services K2 Construction Management offers and provided an update on their biggest project to date in the North East, the SeAH Wind site.
We also heard from Stuart Metcalfe who touched on the road to Net Zero and how px Energy Solutions can help organisations reduce their energy consumption.
Our final speaker was Bill Scott OBE who provided an overview of Universal Coatings and Services and Wilton Engineering, and welcomed members to get in touch to see how they could work collaboratively.
NEPIC members were then invited to join a tour of the college’s new £3.2m training centre, the Clean Energy Education Hub, which has been developed in collaboration with industry leaders to shape the plans for the facility.
The centre aims to train school leavers in clean and renewable energy, and features a carbon capture rig to train aspiring Net Zero engineers, informed by organisations such as bp and DarbyTech to ensure it’s of industry standard.
We’d like to thank Redcar College for hosting our, our speakers and everyone who attended, we hope to welcome you to our next event on 15 June at RelyOn Nutec in Billingham: https://www.nepic.co.uk/event/cluster-connect-june/
