BECBC, a collaborative network of businesses across Cumbria, will run the awards ceremony on 21 November surrounded by the region’s business community.
Underlining their commitment to fostering business development and recognising outstanding achievements within Cumbria and beyond, the BECBC awards showcase success stories annually, with this year’s theme being ‘Key to the door,’ in honour of their 21st birthday.
As the biggest employer in the region, Sellafield Ltd supports the supply chain in developing initiatives that drive economic growth and innovation in Cumbria. Their sponsorship of this year’s Business of the Year Award will honour a standout business that has demonstrated exceptional performance and innovation throughout the year.
The annual event for businesses in Cumbria and the broader nuclear industry celebrates the accomplishments of companies that strengthen the region’s economy with 13 award categories that cover a wide range of business.
Nominations for the BECBC Awards are open now, comprising the Business of the Year award, alongside Partnership, Innovation, BECBC Ambassador of the Year, Rising Star, Social Value, Environmental, Micro Business, Empowering the Next Generation, Growing Business, and Charity or Social Enterprise of the Year and business person of the year.
A brand-new award has been added to the list this year for Performance Culture; this award links to the recently launched Organisational Health for Performance Group within BECBC.
BECBC review their awards annually, ensuring they stay relevant to Cumbrian businesses, and evolve with the dynamic nature of the industries the event is championing.
John Grainger, BECBC head judge said: “We look forward to the awards every year, as they stand as a significant opportunity for recognising and celebrating the exceptional businesses that form the backbone of Cumbria’s thriving energy sector.
“Winning a BECBC award stretches beyond accolades, it’s a chance for businesses to share insights, form meaningful connections, and inspire one another. In addition to receiving recognition for a year of hard work, the awards ceremony encourages a collective drive to push boundaries, challenge norms, and strive for excellence.
“It’s a celebration of not just individual achievements but also the collective triumph of our industry as a whole.”
Sellafield Ltd chief supply chain officer James Riddick said: “As a prominent employer in the region, we are proud to be once again supporting the annual BECBC Awards. I’m relatively new to the company, but I’m fully aware how this event shines a light on the achievements of businesses in a range of categories, including the business of the year category that we are sponsoring. Good luck to all the entrants.”
In addition to Sellafield Ltd, other confirmed sponsors are: Co-Lab Engineering, Industrial Solutions Hub (iSH), Flawed Ltd, Natterjack Marketing, KBR, Balfour Beatty, Jacobs, Tetra Tech, Morgan Sindall, and Cavendish Nuclear.
