Read more >Chioma joined our team back in September as our Innovate UK project lead, aiming to investigate the production of sustainable olefins in the region throughout a 15-month project ending on 18 December 2024.
As our industry is on the journey to Net Zero, Chioma’s role is important in helping us identify how we achieve our goal and provide a pathway forward. The project evaluates the economic viability as well as environmental and supply chain implications of sustainable olefins production in Teesside. By the end of the project, Chioma’s goal is to be able to foster a circular chemical economy in the Teesside industrial cluster by providing a strategic roadmap for waste valorisation and sustainable olefins production in the region.
Chioma works closely with our member and non-member companies around the region to discover more about their waste streams, feedstocks and products:
“I’ve enjoyed developing the project so far, and have worked closely alongside our innovation executive, Abigail Bell and her mapping project – it all ties together so we can investigate what could be achieved in terms of waste utilisation, in which companies could benefit from another company’s waste to enhance a circular economy.”
Chioma began working with us having just graduated from Newcastle University where she achieved a PhD in chemical engineering, with particular experience in the research of immersive technologies for use in the chemical industry.
Back in December, Chioma was invited to the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Chemical Feedstock for Sustainable Industry Conference in London. There, she discussed the work being carried out in the North East to tackle climate change and foster a circular economy, including opportunities for waste valorisation and circular chemical economy within the Teesside industrial cluster.
If you are interested in contributing to the project, Chioma invites members to chat with her, particularly if you have an interest in decarbonisation and the circular economy. You can reach her via email: chioma.udeozor@nepic.co.uk or she will also be around at our Asset Management Conference on 20 February.
