Engineering and services provider Bilfinger UK has won a £5m contract with industrial giant INEOS for a project in Teesside.
The agreement with INEOS Nitriles covers a plant turnaround project at the company’s Seal Sands production site.
Bilfinger will plan and manage the HMD Plant inspection and maintenance work, which will include mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering, in addition to providing scaffolding, insulation and painting services.
It will undertake planning and preparation work starting later this year, with the plant turnaround due to take place next year. Bilfinger will employ a team of up to 300 people at the site for the execution phase of the contract.
Phill Maurer, managing director for Bilfinger UK, said:
“Given the scale and complexity of the Seal Sands site, a well-managed turnaround function is critical to keep the facility running safely and efficiently and to optimise production.
“This contract is a key addition to our significant portfolio of support partnerships at major petrochemical facilities, demonstrating that our strategy of forming close and ongoing working relationships with customers to deliver a wide range of services throughout the asset lifecycle is the right one.”
Earlier this year, Bilfinger UK was awarded two contracts worth a total of £24m by Ineos for maintenance services for the Grangemouth crude oil refinery and the Forties pipeline, both of which are located in Scotland.
