Newcastle University’s Arrow programme is designed to make it easier for SMEs to collaborate with the University in order to support and boost research and innovation in the North East LEP region.

Arrow provides two support mechanisms to address SME needs: the Innovation Catalyst and Innovation Accelerator.

Both offer research and innovation support: the Catalyst provides people and expertise, and the Accelerator provides match-funding.

Access to Expertise

The Innovation Catalyst provides fully funded access to expertise on research and innovation projects lasting from a few days to 2-3 months. Led by an academic and with an Arrow Innovation Associate as a dedicated resource, projects are co-designed to meet SME needs.

Access to Funding

Match funding can be used to access services from other universities, research institutes or private sector suppliers.
