CCI in the East of England provides opportunities through our virtual site visits for children to meet and be inspired by our CCI ambassadors from Johnson Matthey and Sartorius Stedim Biotech. A diverse range of careers and people in STEM is well represented by the ambassadors, providing great role models for the children.

During the live classroom interactions, ambassadors show videos of manufacturing processes, perform live demonstrations and take children on live tours of their sites.

Children get a clearer idea of the people and practices of the industry, and an idea of what STEM careers look like in practice. Ambassadors share stories from their own experience and talk about the path and skills needed for children to follow in their footsteps.

The children are inspired by these encounters and have lots of questions to ask. CCI ambassadors enrich the children’s experience of CCI and they in turn enjoy working with the children and presenting them with the challenge for a lesson or questioning the class later to discuss their investigations.
