For the eighth consecutive year, AESSEAL proudly sponsored the Get Up to Speed with STEM (GUTS) 2025 event as a Gold Sponsor, reinforcing our dedication to nurturing the next generation of engineers, problem-solvers, and industry leaders. This annual event, the largest of its kind in the region, plays a vital role in connecting students with businesses and inspiring future careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Held on March 19th and 20th at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, the event welcomed over 5,500 students from across South Yorkshire for an immersive learning experience.

Get Up to Speed is organised by The Work-wise Foundation and provides a unique platform for young people to explore STEM careers, engage with industry professionals, and interact with some of the UK’s most exciting innovations. The event featured numerous problem-solving challenges and interactive activities, helping students discover the practical applications of STEM in real-world industries.

This year, we introduced an exciting new 4-bench process, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with CAM/Design, Inspection, Seal Build, and Pump Cutaway & End Product demonstrations.

During the Business Breakfast event, opened by the esteemed presence of Master Cutler Philip Rodrigo, businesses reflected on the last 15 years of skills development and innovation through the GUTS initiative. Keynote speakers included Richard Caborn, President of The Work Wise Foundation, Rowan Campbell-Pilling, a rising star in British motorsport, and Professor Ben Morgan, Interim CEO at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). Their insights reinforced the importance of skills, innovation, and collaboration in shaping the future of industry.
