Secerna LLP is delighted to introduce Ella Hudson as the newest member of our team. Ella specialises in intellectual property within the realm of life sciences, bringing her expertise to serve our global clientele.

Ella’s journey towards becoming a trainee patent attorney at Secerna is marked by a strong foundation in life sciences and a commitment to research and innovation. Her academic pursuits began at Cardiff University, where she earned an Upper-Second Class Honours bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, and gained valuable laboratory experience during a year in industry working as a researcher at the University of Ottawa. This foundation was further strengthened by a master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology, achieved with Distinction from the University of York.

Following her master’s, Ella pursued a PhD in Biological Materials Science at the University of Sheffield. Her doctoral research focused on investigating peptide-protein binding interactions and their impact on the mechanical properties of protein-based fibres. This in-depth research experience provides Ella with a unique understanding of the scientific principles underlying many life science innovations.

Ella said, “I am delighted to be part of the Secerna team. The firm’s reputation for excellence in life sciences patent work and its supportive environment were key factors in my decision to join. I am eager to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to the protection of ground-breaking innovations in this dynamic field.”
