Read more >Anglo American is gathering information about job opportunities in the area as it seeks to support the workforce who will be impacted by the company’s announcement to slowdown the development of the Woodsmith Project.
This will see a pool of talent become available in the region’s labour market over the next few months, with a variety of specialist and transferrable skills across a full spectrum of professional disciplines. Businesses across Yorkshire, the North-East and beyond are being encouraged to provide information on current and upcoming vacancies, which will be advertised to the impacted workforce.
The Woodsmith Project involves the construction of a new polyhalite mine near Whitby, and associated product and port handling facilities in Teesside. Whilst the project remains central to Anglo American’s plans for the future, the company is slowing down construction over the next two years. This will result in an approximate 60% reduction of the project workforce over the next year.
The company is working with a wide range of partners to provide a programme of support for the people and businesses who will be affected by the slowdown.
Businesses with current and upcoming job opportunities, or who may have questions and want to get involved are asked to contact Anglo American by emailing: Cropnutrients.support@angloamerican.com
