The UK Government has published ‘Enabling Industrial Electrification: a call for evidence (CfE) on fuel-switching to electricity’. We would like to encourage you to respond to the CfE and share it with your networks.

The CfE is to build our understanding of the role of electrification in industry, the challenges industry faces when considering electrification options and to test early-stage policy thinking. It has two parts:

• In Part I of the call for evidence, we are keen to hear from industrial sites, trade associations, academics, technology providers, network companies, non-governmental organisations, electricity suppliers and anyone else with an interest in this area. We ask about the role of electrification in industry, barriers and enablers to electrification, and their views on the effectiveness of current, and potential options for future policy.
• Part II of the call for evidence seeks to collect more granular information from industrial sites through a site survey, including details about their site, their decarbonisation experience and planning, along with barriers and enablers to electrification.

The CfE will remain open until 20 October 2023, and further information can be found on the GOV.UK page: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/enabling-industrial-electrification-a-call-for-evidence.

Engagement sessions will be hosted at a later date and details will be released nearer the time.

How to respond to the CfE

 Responses should be provided online at https://beisgovuk.citizenspace.com/industrial-energy/industrial-electrification-call-for-evidence (preferred). We have made efforts to make the Citizen Space CfE format user-friendly, including updating the functionality so you can now upload documents as supplementary evidence, so we encourage you to use Citizen Space if possible.
