Read more >In many fixed gas detection systems, sensor units are designed to use natural diffusion as the sampling method. Sensors are located at or near points where there is the possibility of a gas release. However, natural diffusion as a sampling method can be slow and in some instances, gas concentration measurements are hampered due to inaccessible or confined locations where a detector cannot be easily installed, or it is necessary to monitor from a Zone 0 hazardous area when using a detector suitable only for Zones 1 or 2. In these instances, using a gas sampling system is essential.
HOW CAN GFG HELP?
GfG’s GMA200-MGSS compact gas sampling is an efficient alternative to expensive Gas sampling systems. The compact, yet robust design consists of a measuring chamber and up to three measuring units. Not only is it a space saving alternative, it makes costly internal tubings and cabling superfluous. Measured gas is pumped in a single measuring chamber which protects the pump and saves energy while delivering significantly faster measurement results.
There are 8 internal relays in the GMA200-MGSS, 6 of which can be configured to suit the application. The relay can also switch additional valves, to allow for up to 6 different extraction gas samples, ensuring the correct evaluation or the charging of the sensors with fresh air to extend the life of the sensor in the presence of aggressive gases.
The status LEDs of the GMA200 shows at a glance whether the system is either in operation, in a defective state or in the service mode. The clear LCD graphic display shows the current measurement values and in the case of an alarm, both a red backlight of the display, the alarm LEDs, the relay LEDs and the alarm siren are activated, while the respective alarm value is shown on the display.
Additionally, the GMA200-MGSS can be customised with optional elements such as cooling coils, filters, a water barrier, condensate trap and flame arrester for secure and permanent monitoring of dangerous gas concentrations:
Flame arrester – If a gas sample is taken from an explosive area, it must be secured with a flame arrester. To prevent the sample gas from being returned to the explosive area after measurement, an additional flame arrestor can be installed at the gas outlet of the device.
Condensate separator – gas samples may have contaminants such as dust particles and condensate which can pollute and damage sensors. The condensate trap filters the pollutants from the gas samples and extends the life of the sensors.
Water barrier – effectively prevents the aspiration of fluids when taking samples.
Cooling coil – gas samples can, if removed from areas of extreme temperatures, have their own temperature which influences the measuring operation or may, damage sensors. Having a cooling coil integrated in the intake will cool down the gas sample giving a safe and reliable measurement.
