The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) opened the new Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) Phase 2: Spring 2022 competition and is hosting a series of stakeholder clinics throughout the competition window to help and support businesses interested in applying for IETF funding. Our Virtual Technology Marketplace is also live and businesses can register now.

 

Businesses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland can bid for a share of up to £60 million in grant funding through the competition window, which runs from 31 January to 29 April 2022.The competition will provide grant funding towards the costs of feasibility and engineering studies, energy efficiency deployment projects and deep decarbonisation deployment projects.

IETF stakeholder clinics

 

The stakeholder clinics help businesses planning on bidding for Phase 2 funding by enabling them to speak directly to BEIS and ask questions around potential bids, scope of the competitions, eligibility criteria, how to apply for funding, the IETF support and information services available, etc.

 

They provide an excellent opportunity to engage with organisations directly and we welcome the chance to be able to talk to you and help with your queries. The final clinics of this competition window are taking place on 12 April and 19 April 2022.

IETF Virtual Technology Marketplace

 

To support businesses interested in applying for IETF funding, we are running the Virtual Technology Marketplace, which offers industrial site owners (eligible manufacturers and data centres) the chance to browse videos showcasing the potential technology that can reduce the energy demand and emissions associated with their industrial processes.

 

If you are an industrial site owner, by signing up for the Technology Marketplace you will be able to see videos pre-screened to ensure only technologies eligible for the IETF competitions are featured. Covering both energy efficiency and decarbonisation technology areas, they will give manufacturers and data centre owners ideas and contacts for technologies that could be deployed on their industrial sites in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

IETF announces remaining Phase 1: Summer 2020 competition winners

 

The government has announced £7 million in funding for 14 energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects across England and Wales in the final part of the IETF’s Phase 1: Summer 2020 competition window. Projects will help organisations improve their energy efficiency, reduce energy bills and cut carbon emissions.

 

Winners include Phillips 66, who will be using funding to electrify their Humberside refinery, while Sheffield Forgemasters will fund a project to decarbonise the production of large-scale forgings and castings at its Sheffield steelworks and Rockwool will install a system to substantially reduce carbon emissions at its site in Bridgend, South Wales.

44 applications from the second Phase 1: Spring 2021 competition window, totalling £50.6 million of IETF funding that will go towards projects costs totalling £145 million, have been approved for funding subject to final due diligence checks. The funding has been allocated for energy efficiency deployment projects and feasibility and engineering studies for both energy efficiency and deep decarbonisation projects. The applications cover a range of industrial sectors including food and drink manufacturing, textiles and paper manufacturing, glass manufacturing, cement manufacturing, and steel manufacturing. Further announcements will be made in due course.
