After being approached by the Royal Society of Chemistry in late 2020 regarding a new initiative to accredit training providers for their delivery of the Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship, TTE decided to take on the challenge to become the first Royal Society of Chemistry accredited provider in the North East.

The courses accredited by RSC under-go a rigorous evaluation process, supporting to provide assurance that those programmes deliver the knowledge and competencies required in a competitive marketplace, within the Chemistry industry.

TTE Technical gained the external accreditation in November 2021, primarily the benefit is that the RSC accreditation is an independent, external marker of a quality programme; reassuring potential employers and learners that the course is of high quality. The accreditation gives learners the chance to develop the competencies required to practice their chosen profession to the highest standard, whilst learning through best practice.

In November 2021, TTE became the first provider in the North East to be accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. This accreditation is an independent external marker of a high quality programme, allowing employers and learners alike to easily discover high quality science education and study to the highest standard.

The rigorous evaluation process has deemed The Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship with Level 3 Certificate in Laboratory Technical Skills and Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities RSC accredited, adding the course to a bespoke list of only four qualified programmes.

This accreditation can reassure potential employers and learners that this programme is of high quality, and gives learners the chance to develop the knowledge and competencies required to practice their chosen profession to the highest standard.

The bespoke nature of the provision really shone through here- it was clear to our assessors that the team at TTE go above and beyond to provide an excellent, personalised training experience to the benefit of both the apprentices and their employers.

TTE, now part of the Middlesbrough College group, historically has had a positive link with the society over the years in their support in the Laboratory Technician Advanced Apprenticeship and the Young Scientist programme and to achieve this benchmark will promote the apprenticeship opportunities in the sector. Internally within the Middlesbrough College group the accreditation process has allowed close collaboration with colleagues in the MC6 in terms of expertise and sharing of resources that can only be of benefit to the learners who enter the programmes. A fantastic result that has taken a year to pull together but the hard work and commitment to all who work on the programme has been recognised.”
