The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is launching the Life Sciences Innovative Manufacturing Fund (LSIMF) to support businesses investing in manufacturing projects in the UK.

This £60m fund will provide capital grants for investments in the manufacture of human medicines (drug substance and drug product), medical diagnostics and MedTech products.

This could include manufacturing investments in:

• Curative and therapeutic treatments for both population-level and rare diseases (e.g.,
  cell, gene, and nucleic acid therapies)
• Earlier and better detection and diagnosis of disease (e.g., ‘breathalysers’ for the early
  detection of cancer or wearable continuous glucose monitors), or
• Smarter pacemakers, tricorders and robotic surgical devices

Applicants who apply in 2022 and align with the fund’s objectives will be prioritised for due diligence based on their ability to defray1 project expenditure and submit a grant claim form by March 2023, relative to the other applicants. Projects unable to claim grant funding before March 2023 will not be disadvantaged but we may agree a longer timeline for you to submit your application.

Once the £60m has been allocated, the fund will close. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, to avoid missing out on funding.
