Read more >Following the launch of the consultation on Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Cluster Sequencing by BEIS, NEPIC in conjunction with TVCA and Net Zero Teesside, organised a roundtable of the key emitters and stakeholders within the Tees Valley Cluster to highlight and discuss the consultation and understand the implications and opportunities for the region.
The roundtable, which was attended by 22 participants, will be used to shape responses to the consultation, ensure the voice of industry is heard and help position the region at the forefront of the national rollout of CCUS networks.
Both NEPIC, TVCA and the regional process sector have been leading the UK’s drive towards decarbonisation of industry first through Teesside Collective and most recently Net Zero Teesside.
CCUS is a key opportunity for the region not only to significantly reduce the UK’s CO2 emissions but also to safeguard and grow existing industries, attract inward investment, and support the growth of the local supply chain.
A recent study by Vivid Economics for Net Zero Teesside highlighted that the project could support £370m in direct GVA and 4,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and £4.8b in cumulative direct GVA through the project lifetime.
The sequencing consultation is key to ensuring that the adoption of CCUS within the region is timely and in accordance with the needs of the region and whilst NEPIC, TVCA and NZT will be submitting responses we would encourage local stakeholders to respond as well, a link to the consultation is given below.
