This story is about IKEA.
The news is a tad bit old, yet the idea is still new, which is why I am writing about it.
Back in October last year, IKEA announced they’ll be launching a second-hand store where the goods sold will come from recycling centres where furniture is donated and then repaired or repurposed.
This marks a stark difference from the ‘use and throw’ culture we are used to seeing.
We are all guilty of throwing things away and buying brand new replacements, right?
If major companies invest into upcycled and repurposed items, perhaps they can encourage other businesses to follow suit and stop items from going straight to landfill.
What do you think about this step from IKEA?
