Read more >We used to hear “put a woman in the forefront, and we’ll see wonders.”
Here’s a woman proving it.
Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand’s Prime Minister, has declared a climate emergency. After successfully dealing with the COVID-19, she’s on to solving yet another important problem.
According to reports, she stated that “urgent action is needed for the sake of future generations”.
Ardern said the science on climate change was clear and New Zealand had to acknowledge the threat.
Ardern last year committed New Zealand to become carbon neutral by 2050 and to generate all of its energy from renewable sources by 2035.
She has also halted all new offshore oil and gas exploration in New Zealand’s waters.
I cannot stress enough the need for world leaders to acknowledge the importance of solving the climate issue. It’s even more ironic to see some leaders dismissing the issue, pretending to be oblivious when even their citizens recognise the urgent need for a resolution.
Seeing the above news brings a glimmer of hope, making me even more optimistic that we are heading towards a better world.
I hope to see more leaders committing to creating a positive impact.
