ICL’s financial results for the third quarter of 2020 show that production at ICL Boulby increased by ten per cent, whilst sales volumes were up by 49 percent compared to the same period last year.
The announcement comes as the mine set new monthly processing records in both September and October—an achievement welcomed by General Manager and Vice President Andrew Fulton as ‘particularly remarkable given the current challenges posed by the COVID 19 emergency and a tribute to the commitment of our entire workforce.’
Mr Fulton said:
“Throughout the emergency we have been recognised as an essential industry able to maintain—and indeed increase–production, contributing to the need to support food production both here in the UK and the many other countries where our products are being increasingly used by farmers and growers.
“At the same time we have put the safety and wellbeing of our workforce as our number one priority, keeping our ‘Barriers of Control’ measures under constant review and recognising that mental health support is especially important at this challenging time.”
“It’s clear that the impact of COVID 19 will be with us for some yet but I am confident that, with everyone’s efforts and the support our parent company, we can continue to move forward and maintain the progress we have made in recent months.”
