The SciLog® Suite, which was opened at Parker Bioscience Filtration’s Birtley, UK site in 2019, provides personnel from across the biopharma sector with the opportunity to undertake interactive demonstrations with Parker Bioscience Filtration’s automated single use bioprocessing systems and run trials to determine how the equipment can be used to optimize their processes.
The facility is also used for in-depth training of operators and engineers.
Since its launch, personnel from countries including France, Germany, Ireland, Russia, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, as well as the UK, have used the SciLog® Suite at the Birtley site.
Teams from CDMOs, vaccine manufacturers, mAb manufacturers, cell and gene therapy (CAGT) manufacturers and engineering firms working on biopharma facility builds have visited the facility in order to run trials or undertake training.
The suite has also allowed Parker Bioscience Filtration to train its EMEA-wide partners and distributors in its systems technology.
Parker Bioscience Filtration is part of Parker Hannifin, the world’s leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems.
The SciLog® Suite, which was launched as part of a major phased investment programme, strengthens the support it offers the global biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry in designing, supplying and delivering whole system solutions.
The SciLog® Suite features the SciLog® SciPure FD system, which automates, standardizes and encloses final bulk filtration and dispense operations.
Biopharmaceutical manufacturers are able to use this testing facility to gain a greater understanding of how their bulk filling processes could be improved through enclosure and automation.
Parker Bioscience Filtration is also in the process of extending the SciLog® offering to allow demonstration and trials to be conducted on its automated NFF and TFF systems.
Able to accommodate more than 20 people, the suite provides a resource for personnel working in process development.
Companies who use the facility can draw on the extensive expertise of Parker Bioscience Filtration’s product specialists, single-use system design engineers and its Technical Support Group.
With another site in Oxnard, California, Parker Bioscience Filtration supports companies both locally and globally in improving process control, efficiency and supply chain security throughout their production and packaging processes.
Parker Bioscience Filtration provides integrated bioprocessing solutions that speed up development times, increase efficiency and safety to enable reproducible quality.
Incorporating the expertise within SciLog® and domnick hunter, Parker Bioscience Filtration combines filtration, single-use fluid-handling systems and sensors into automated single-use solutions.
Last year, Parker Bioscience Filtration opened the doors to new, expanded facilities at its Birtley site.
These included new state-of-the-art office and conferencing spaces, extended laboratories and new clean room, manufacturing and testing facilities.
Visitors using the SciLog® Suite can collaborate with Parker Bioscience Filtration’s single use design team on their manifold requirements and are able to tour the facilities, which include a 600m2 ISO Class 7 cleanroom facility.
Commenting on the success of the SciLog® Suite, David Heaney, Market Development Manager at Parker Bioscience Filtration, said:
“We are dedicated to working closely with organisations across international biopharmaceutical manufacturing and strengthening their operations with systems such as the SciLog® SciPure FD system.
“It has therefore been fantastic to see so many companies using the SciLog® Suite at our Birtley site and engaging with our technical personnel.
We created the SciLog® Suite as a resource for our international customer base and we’re pleased that it is now helping companies to optimize processes and generate greater efficiencies.”
