Read more >The NEPIC team visited Wilton Primary School last month as part of their STEM Day.
The day was organised by Julie Harrison, STEM Presenter – Inspiron Learning & Director at Climate Action North, along with member company, Alpek Polyester.
Children of all ages from, Reception to Year Six were involved in the day and learning challenging themselves about Crude Oil, Plastics and Recycling.
The children took part in a range of activities such as find the the hidden treasure and designed had to design a new recycled product, lead by Julie.
Staff from both NEPIC and Alpek then had to make the tough decision of crowning the winner of the new products made by the children.
Three winners were chosen and their designs included a mobile phone case, a guitar and a a birdcage.
NEPIC Marketing Executive, Lucy Tyreman, said:
“It was a fantastic seeing the children learn about plastics and the uses and benefits of it as well as the importance of recycling it.
“It’s crucial we educate the future scientists and engineers about these issues, as they are hugely important in today’s society and are likely to be even more important in years to come.”
