At NEPIC we work with chemical-processing and supply chain companies across the North East of England to help them become successful organisations in a business environment that promotes growth. We represent the largest process industry cluster in the UK, and second largest in Europe, which includes manufacturers of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, renewables and biotechnology. Through our established network of members, we provide business growth support to companies small and large via networking, marketing, events, mentoring, best practice and signposting.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Executive you will be responsible for the organisation’s strategic and tactical business development and client retention efforts, helping the business to grow its customer base and manage key accounts across several industry sectors. You will also play an active role within the organisation’s senior management team and oversee the membership and engagement team.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible of bringing on board new business
- Drive profitable sales growth through both new and existing channels
- Responsible for maintaining a strong and long-term relationship with member organisations and maximising sales opportunities within them
- Acquire a thorough understanding of member needs and requirements
- Ensure the NEPIC offer is clear and compelling to both new and potential members
- Help members maximise the value of their membership
- Present the value of our offer to key stakeholders including national government agencies, MPs, Councils, LEPs and professional bodies
- Ensure a high-level customer service strategy to drive engagement and increase retention
- Connect with lapsed clients to inform them about organisational developments and compelling reasons to reengage
- Oversee the organisation’s Customer Relationship Management system and data sources and ensure they are fit-for-purpose
- Management NEPIC’s savings partnerships
- Develop offers and proposals in conjunction with colleagues
- Develop and maintain process sector knowledge so that the Senior Management Team is provided with accurate intelligence and insight in to global, national and local businesses sector opportunities
- Maintain and manage the sales pipeline and new customer processes
- Prepare regular reports and presentations of progress, measures and forecasts
- Work with NEPIC’s Communications Director to plan and execute marketing initiatives
- Represent NEPIC at regional and national meetings and events
- Work with the Senior Management Team to develop the strategic and tactical direction to ensure we remain a strong, relevant and value adding organisation
- Manage the processes and activities of the Membership and Engagement Team
- Plan, manage and evaluate events
Personal Specification
Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Graduate level qualification or equivalent plus at least 5 years broad-based business experience
- Relevant experience in business development, account management, customer service, sales and marketing roles
- Ideally, a sound understanding of the processing industries and their complex and often global supply chains, with a period working within any of the relevant sectors including pharmaceuticals, chemicals or food & drink in a technical and/or commercial role
- A good understanding of the business environment and with a strong personal network within the North East of England
- Experience of building successful relationships with strategic partners and within both the private and public sectors
- Knowledge of business support programmes and funding schemes
- Previous experience of working for a membership organisation would be helpful, but is not essential
- Full UK driving licence required
