PD Ports was one of only two UK winners at the awards, which salute achievements by individuals and organisations in the maritime bulk industry, and picked up the award at a ceremony in Hamburg.
Judges were looking for a company that demonstrates how excellent customer care has achieved increased turnover, profitability or customer retention with attention to detail and willingness to go beyond customer needs and expectations.
Frans Calje, PD Ports’ CEO, said:
“We are delighted to represent the UK ports industry for customer care, setting a precedence for the high levels of service we give to all of our customers.
“Our ethos is built on creating trusted, long-lasting partnerships that allow us to understand customers and their unique requirements.
We acknowledge that without our customers we wouldn’t be able to operate, and that is why we go the extra mile to support their success and secure their futures as well as our own.”
The award not only demonstrates PD Ports’ commitment to be an integral part of each customer’s business, but also the lengths it will go to exceed their expectations.
This is demonstrated in a variety of its operations, including a multi-million-pound investment to create a purpose-built warehouse at its Teesport site to accommodate a bi-weekly shipment from British Gypsum, the UK’s leading manufacturer in plaster for the construction industry.
This will allow direct rail access and a dedicated terminal to provide easy transportation, plus visual inspection of all cargo when it arrives on site.
Frans said:
“Without exception, we aim to go above and beyond for every one of our customers. This award win demonstrates the trust and confidence our customers have in our people, our market knowledge and our ability to understand as well as respond to their needs.”
IBJ is considered the leader for shipping, commodities, port and logistics news around the world.
The awards celebrate the companies and individuals who have made invaluable contributions to the maritime bulk industry.
