The “Evides Energie Neutraal” program that we launched last year is aimed at getting the company to Carbon Neutrality by 2025.
“We want to achieve this with sustainable energy generation through solar parks on our own grounds: on land and later also on water.”
Said Annette Ottolini, General Director of Evides Waterbedrijf at the opening the Evides’ first solar park, at Braakman in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. And more will follow.
The plan is to use all of our terrain.
Evides is investigating the possibilities of not only installing the solar parks on land, but also on water.
In mid-2019, Evides started a pilot at the Kralingen site in Rotterdam with floating solar panels on the reservoir (surface water reservoir).
If this proves to be successful, we will equip several Evides reservoirs with floating solar panels. The maintenance of good water quality is of course the most important condition for the success of the research.
We use all the energy that is generated here sustainably for the purification process of drinking water for our customers in Zeeland Flanders.
At the rear of the treatment site, 6,153 solar panels have been installed, with a total generation capacity of 2,000 kWp.
The estimated annual yield of 1,900 MWh is comparable to the energy consumption of around 500 households.
The Netherlands wants a fully sustainable energy supply by 2050 – affordable and reliable for consumers and companies – and the greatest possible reduction in carbon emissions. Evides’ aim to be fully carbon neutral by 2025 will make a major contribution to the acceleration of the energy transition.
