IChemE is the leading professional qualifying body for chemical, biochemical and process engineers and the annual IChemE Global Awards celebrating chemical, process and biochemical engineering excellence is widely recognised as the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards.
The double award from IChemE, against stiff international competition, is a further recognition of Micropore’s unique achievement in managing to successfully scale up membrane emulsification technology to an industrial scale with the control the precision of particle creation normally only found in a laboratory.
Micropore’s unique technology enables the creation of high-quality emulsions (combinations of substances), formed from uniform size droplets resulting in inherently more stable products. Less additives like emulsifiers or surfactants are required, reducing raw material costs. And, with a much lower shear force, sensitive materials are able to be more gently processed without damage – significantly reducing wastage.
Other benefits include; the elimination of waste (typically a minimum of 30% using conventional mixing techniques); a 40% reduction in energy use; a reduction in regulatory burden; and a significant reduction in the equipment space required.
