Read more >Heating jackets are manufactured according to our own Heatfast brand specifications using heat tracing cables and thermal insulation jackets – these heating jackets are used to provide frost protection, conserve heat and maintain plant process temperatures to prevent viscosity loss, coagulation, clogging or freezing.
The heat tracing cables are embedded to the thermal insulation jacket to provide even electrical surface heating and distribution – we can customise Trace Heating design to specific applications and produce in-house for fast delivery to UK and international locations.
WHAT IS HEAT TRACING?
Electric heat tracing is a cable based system used to maintain, raise temperature and protect process pipework and vessels against freezing temperatures and associated frost damage – heat tracing cables mitigate and counteract cold weather effects as part of a Winterisation strategy for industrial and process applications against low (sub-zero) ambient temperatures on both onshore and offshore locations.
This includes ATEX heaters to provide safe portable, hazardous area certified heating and air warming for Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21 and Zone 22 hazardous areas.

APPLICATIONS
Pipework heating and frost protection for fittings, junction boxes, drums, IBC’s, flanges, valves and associated mechanical process plant.
Our Heatfast jacket technology can be evolved and adapted to suit heating applications for non-standard variations and bespoke applications – fats, oils and foodstuffs are typically heated as well as organic and inorganic chemicals and acids in hazardous area zones and potentially explosive atmosphere locations.
Contact us to discuss the initial concept, agree a bespoke design, start manufacture and deliver on short lead times to support your Winterisation measures to prevent cold-weather damage to your critical process assets.
We have all the answers to your process heating questions.
How can I heat the contents of my storage units to allow pumping and processing?
What is the best way to guarantee frost protection for my vital mechanical engineering processes?
Where is the most time and maintenance efficient heating option I can incorporate in to my design requirements?
Thorne & Derrick distribute process heating products to enable the free flow of viscous liquids or gases by IBC, drum, pipe or heated hose.
Some Features & Benefits
Heat loss calculations can be conducted to ensure guaranteed process heating, temperature maintenance or frost protection
Jackets fitted with adjustable quick release buckle system for quick removal and maintenance and inspection
Heat tracing jackets available with ancillary accessories and size variations
Commonly referred to as trace heating jackets to retain heat energy and maintain storage and production efficiency
Fire Hydrant & Fire Extinguisher Protection – our Heatfast Winterisation heating jackets can be used on fire extinguishers to provide frost protection and prevention of snow and ice build-up which could inflict “bursts” or freezing to critical safety equipment.
Engine Maintenance – our Heatfast heating jackets can be used to prevent fuel “waxing” in cold and sub-zero temperatures. Customised jacket heaters can be designed to include removable sections for engineering maintenance.
Pipe, Valve & Flange Maintenance – insulation jackets using Heatfast trace heating cables can be installed on onshore and offshore flanges, pipes and valves to provide winter protection against frost, snow, ice and environmental considerations.
TRACE HEATING SYSTEMS & HEAT TRACE CABLES
The heat trace cable ranges stocked and supplied by Thorne & Derrick International includes electric heating cables for process temperature maintenance, pipe and vessel freeze protection and roof and gutter de-icing applications where snow and ice removal is required – cables and systems are available for commercial, industrial safe area (non-hazardous area) and hazardous area heating applications with ATEX certification.
