This September saw Jerry run his 5th Great North Run event for charity. However, this year he has gone even further in his fundraising efforts.
Jerry completed his third full Iron Man race over the last 12 months in Italy on the 22nd September.
For those of you who don’t know what an Iron Man race comprises it’s a 3.8km open water swim followed by a 180km bike ride and then, to complete, a 42km run.
Each of these legs is done sequentially over anywhere between 8 hours for the elite professionals and 18 hours for the slowest members in the field.
As you can imagine getting through these events is super tough.
There is a point at which, no matter how much and hard the training, your mind inevitably starts to say “just make it stop (please)”.
Jerry has undertaken all of this to raise money for High Tide Foundation, one of NEPIC’s own education charity partners. High Tide was set up some 6 years ago to provide opportunities for young people living in the Tees Valley to learn about the career opportunities that are available in the region.
It runs many programmes, including work experience; apprenticeship development; accompanied visits to activities outside of the region – all of which have benefitted over 6,000 young people to date.
Please support Jerry if you can in raising funds for this worthwhile cause. You can find his Just Giving page here.
