Global chemical company Venator, the experts in pigments and additives, is marking 1,000 days injury free by donating £1,000 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Venator, a New York Stock Exchange listed manufacturer, reached the Lost Time Accident (LTA) free milestone for its Wynyard Park global HQ on Thursday 29th August – amounting to more than 2.7 years injury free.

To celebrate this important milestone, Venator donated £1,000 to a charity which promotes safety.

Associates were asked to vote and more than 68% of employees voted for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Bringing pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, the Great North Air Ambulance Service rescues and treats hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year.

The service relies entirely on donations to support operating costs of over £5 million.

Last year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service received 1,641 call-outs across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service is in the process of moving to new premises at Progress House, Urlay Nook, near Eaglescliffe, to bring all its operations under one roof.

Deborah Gibbs, Fundraising Assistant at the Great North Air Ambulance Service, visited Venator’s HQ to receive the £1,000 charity donation, which was handed over by Debbie Hunter, HQ Operations & Business Services Manager and Brian Hughes, EHS & Building Services Manager.

Ms Gibbs said:

“We rely solely on charitable donations to provide air ambulance services across our region, so we are grateful for Venator’s contribution towards our considerable operating costs.

“Our dedicated, highly trained critical care team using our air ambulances and rapid response cars really do make a difference every day by saving people’s lives and easing their suffering, and we’re delighted to receive so much support from the general public for our work.”

“We’re delighted that our Wynyard site has reached this important milestone of 1,000 days injury free, and it seemed fitting to donate £1,000 to a charity which promotes safety.

“Our employees voted overwhelmingly to give the funds to the Great North Air Ambulance because it holds a special place in their hearts, and we’re delighted to be able to support a cause which does such fantastic work here in the North East.”

Venator, which has more than 600 employees across the North East, is a global manufacturer and marketer of chemical products that comprise a broad range of pigments and additives that bring colour and vibrancy to buildings, protect and extend product life, and reduce energy consumption.
