Overview
An interactive panel discussion on the importance of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity (ED&I) in the nuclear and engineering profession. Hear from representatives across the industry on the subject, sharing their thoughts and experiences. Attendees are welcomed to contribute to the discussion either in person, for the limited capacity available at The Engine Rooms, or online, via teams, for those who cannot attend in person. A complementary buffet lunch will be provided at The Engine Rooms following the panel discussion.

Speakers
Dawn Watson, Head of Strategy and Technical, Analytical Services, Sellafield Ltd
Dawn has been working in the nuclear industry since graduating from UMIST with a BSc (Hons) in Physics in 1996. She currently leads a team of technical staff at the Sellafield site who work closely with the analytical laboratories, trouble shooting and looking at forward strategies to support the site in delivery of its decommissioning and remediation mission. Dawn shares thoughts on how inclusive practice is important for our nuclear culture and gave examples on standards from the nuclear industry.

Sarah Bakewell, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), IOP
Sarah joined the IOP in February 2021 to provide leadership and expertise to the EDI strands woven within the Unlocking the Future strategy. She is currently leading on the creation of a new inclusion model for physics to replace Project Juno, the IOP’s gender equality award. Sarah leads a team of four and between them they cover all aspects of EDI including policy, working with IOP members and staff education and engagement.
